Community Awareness

Description of Program: The program encourages and rewards students for making significant contributions to their community. Points are earned for the Service Honor Cord throughout High School by contributing time and energy to organizations such as church, non-profit agencies, senior centers, hospitals, working a sporting event, tutoring, helping an elderly neighbor etc. As long as there is no pay involved, the activity can count as a service activity.

Criteria/Eligibility Requirements:  Each student will need to submit a signed service form within 2 weeks of completing the project. The service letter must be signed by the supervisor of the project and will indicate individual student hours volunteered to this effort. Forms are available outside the Main Office and the Counseling Office. Please turn completed forms into the Main Office.

National Honor Society students may earn these cords by volunteering hours above and beyond those needed for N.H.S.

120 total hours needed for service cords at Graduation. Service hours are not mandatory for graduation. Due to COVID, 2021-2023 graduates can earn service cords after completion of 90 hours.
